Notes On A Line, 2022-
A series exploring the ability for thread to stitch time, to make memories tactile, soft. I render old notes, assignments, pictures, diary entries from my childhood onto fabric to embroider them in bright red thread. The back of the work is exposed, leaving the messy, web-woven trail of my hand’s movement to be seen. When the series is finished, they will hang freely side by side on a clothesline, so both back and front are available, and are familiar as one’s favorite sweater, laundered and left to dry once again.
